5. Charitable Travel Costs
Although volunteering gives you a lot of satisfaction, sometimes being kind to others could be quite costly, especially when traveling. Thankfully, Uncle Sam appreciates what you’re doing, and, as a reward, it gives you the opportunity to deduct your charitable travel expenses.
Remember that the taxman will bring you to account if your travel costs aren’t for helping out a non-profit organization. So, no personal pleasure is allowed! Still, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t have fun while on duty.
