11 Laws That You’re Probably Breaking Without Even Knowing!

10. Hanging a Mask (or Dice) From a Rearview Mirror

Masks seem to have overtaken fuzzy dice when it comes to hanging in rearview mirrors. Yeah, it may be convenient to let yours hang there while you’re driving, but just because something is convenient does not make it legal.

If you live in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, for example, doing this might get you in trouble with the law since you’d be prohibited from hanging anything, not just your mask, from that rearview mirror. That’s because any of these objects obstruct your view, creating a safety hazard.

If you live in Missouri, you can still hang your mask, but you could be cited if your vision is obstructed in a crash.

Just put them away while you’re driving and nobody’s going to bat an eyelid!

11. Photocopying a Textbook

Students far and wide have probably photocopied thousands of pages of textbooks over the years. Is it legal? If you ask the Stanford University Libraries, the answer is a resounding ‘NO!’

If you want to comment upon, parody or criticize the textbook or pages you are copying then this falls under fair use. Other than that, the waters are pretty muddy since there’s no specific number of pages that you can safely photocopy.

Really, it all comes down to how you use that material!
