You Might Live a Very Long Life
Many U.S. retirees don’t make long-term plans ahead – and by long-term plans, we mean really long term. After all, it would feel a bit silly to get your finances ready for your 100th birthday since you’re now 60 years old, right? Well, not really!
Americans are living much longer than expected. Right now, 78,000 centenarians (people over 100 years old) are living in America.
“About one out of every four 65-year-olds today will live past age 90, and one out of 10 will live past age 95.” – Social Security Administration
This means that, if you live for 90 years, you still have to make your income last for 28 years.
