1. Shailene Woodley

The Dakota Access Pipeline was constructing a pipeline on Rock Sioux Tribe’s reservation and so the tribe tried to stop the big company from damaging their sacred sites.

Many people, actress Shailene Woodley included, joined the tribe and protested against the giant.

Woodley found herself in some trouble when she was arrested for alleged criminal trespassing (we are trying to stay impartial, but I think destroying someone’s sacred habitat for money is more criminal than protesting it).

She was eventually released and continued to protest against them.

2. Susan Sarandon

In 1999, the star protested against the NYPD because of the shooting of an innocent unarmed  West African immigrant, named Amadou Diallo.

Along 219 people Sarandon was arrested at the NY police headquarters.

“If we’re not here today, then we’re saying that what happened is acceptable and normal, and I think that does a disservice to the other police” said the actress for People.

3. Martin Sheen

Sheen is widely known for his involvement is protests and getting arrested for it.

In 1986, he protested against nuclear weapons and was detained on misdemeanor alleged public nuisance.

In 1990, as a demonstration to protest our policies and the people killed in El Salvador he threw blood on front of the Federal Building in Los Angeles. He was arrested again.

His rep even said he was arrested 68 TIMES!!!! Well, that’s a dedicated man right there.

4. Woody Harrelson

In 1996, in order to save  an ancient redwood in Northern California, actor Woody Harrelson and some other environmentalists climbed the Golden Gate Bridge.

He was then arrested for it, but we say CHEERS! Woody.

5. Cynthia Nixon

In 2002, the actress and other 11 people were arrested  for protesting in New York for better public school funding.

She mentioned that: “[The arrests] were pre-arranged. The police were very respectful. We were handcuffed, put in a paddy wagon and were taken down to a station.”

In 2018 she tried to make a bigger change by running for governor of New York, but was defeated by the now disgraced Andrew Cuomo.
