Yeah….it gets weirder and weirder the more you dive into this article. The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake is actually an annual event held on the Spring Bank Holiday at Cooper’s Hill, near Gloucester in England. The first written record of this event dates back to 1826 and today people all over the world come here every single year to witness this competition.
As the name suggests, cheese rolling is a sport in which competitors have to roll a 7–9 pounds round of Double Gloucester cheese down a hill, and, of course, the quickest over the finishing line wins. According to the Betting Edge, you can even bet on who’ll be the winner. (We don’t know if you can eat the cheese…)
