3. Swearing at a cop
When we are pulled over by a police officer, almost all of us (if not all) find ourselves mumbling curses. But the minute the cop is near our car’s window, we shut up. Well, although you assume it’s illegal, swearing at a cop is not against the law. It’s mentioned in the First Amendment!
However, some states have laws that ban swearing. In Virginia, for example, there’s a law that prohibits cursing and swearing in public. In fact, it is considered a Class 4 misdemeanor. Yet, the First Amendment applies to everyone. It protects your free speech, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be cited for inciting violence with your cursing and swearing.
