There are plenty of states that don’t require sales taxes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best states when it comes to low taxes. Some people tend to overlook the sales taxes when they are looking at the tax situation of different states.
It’s one of the biggest mistakes they can make. Over 45 states, the District of Columbia included, have sales taxes, and some of them are outrageously HUGE! For example, Louisiana has the average combined state and local sales tax at more than 9.5%!
