Do Women Understand Social Security Better Than Men or Vice Versa?
What about men and women? Do they have different views about Social Security, and if they do, are they founded?
Well, as it turns out, the average monthly check for a man was $1,503 for men in 2017, compared to $1,196 for women. This may be concerning, especially if you’re a single woman during retirement, but the reason behind this is nothing more or nothing less than the gender wage gap.
Since men tend to make more money than women, who more often than not prioritize their families and have fewer opportunities towards bonuses and promotions, it’s expected that they will receive a heftier check.
