Why do I need one?
Firstly, a gun trust is allowing a transfer of the gun and gun ownership when the grantor is deceased. In case you didn’t know, the transport and transfer of the ownership of the weapon have to meet many regulations and it can easily become a felony with you not even knowing it.
The transfer means a lot of paperwork, identification, and background checks.
In addition, when it comes to NFA Title II guns, the existence of a gun trust allows other parties to use the weapon, in general, if you have one, and let’s say you let a friend shoot at the range, this is a felony.
The other parties have to sign as co-trustees and have to undergo the same procedures.
Note: The vast majority of the American population owns Title I firearms, but since the sales are increasing for that category so are sales for Title II weapons.
