3. Eviction laws
In only a few short months, the novel coronavirus has created a big wave of unprecedented unemployment. Many people are struggling to pay their rents and many more live paycheck to paycheck. So, that’s why some states such as New York state have adapted or suspended their laws referring to eviction.
“In many states that have eviction laws, state governments have adopted special rules to protect renters that may be suffering as a result of COVID-19 and prevent them from being evicted,” says Michael Weiner, attorney, and partner at Slate Law Group.
