A Couple Got Sued Because Of The Emojis They Used In A Text

If you’re used to texting and using all sorts of emojis to make your point clear, you might want to reconsider this practice. Otherwise, you might end up like a couple from Israel who had to pay more than $2,000 for an apartment they never rented, all because of one emoji.

The couple found an online add about an apartment and contacted the landlord to ask for more details. During their conversations, the couple used various emojis such as smiley faces, champagne bottles and peace signs.

The landlord was convinced about their genuine interest in renting his place, so he took it off the market. Unfortunately, the couple changed their mind. This really upset the landlord so the

filed a lawsuit against them to recover the month’s rent he lost. A judge ruled in his favor, saying that “although this message did not constitute a binding contract between the parties, this message naturally led to the Plaintiff’s great reliance on the defendants’ desire to rent his apartment.” Still wanna use those emojis?

Woman Sues Starbucks for Using Too Much Ice

With more than 30,626 outlets across the globe, the Seattle-based coffeehouse chain is without a doubt the most prominent of its kind. But this doesn’t mean Starbucks hasn’t received its fair share of criticism and complaints. This was exactly the case with Stacy Pincus, a woman from Chicago, who sued the famous brand for putting too much ice in her iced coffees.

According to court documents, the “plaintiff alleges that…Starbucks has engaged in the practice of misrepresenting the amount of Cold Drink a customer will receive. As a result of this practice, Starbucks’ Cold Drinks contain significantly less product than advertised, by design and corporate practice and procedure.”

Although the drink in question is iced, this does not mean it should include more water and ice than coffee. According to Pincus, a venti-sized container is filled just above the head of the siren on the logo, then filled with ice.

That means there are around 14 ounces of coffee instead of the 24 ounces that fit in the cup. Starbucks, on the other hand, claimed their employees can always put less ice if the customers request it.

Bottom line? Coffee is serious business.
