Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
The SSI is a benefit program meant to improve the lives of disabled citizens or those over 65 years old who receive a small amount of income. Depending on the standards set by the law, people in this category get a monthly check of a certain sum.
Note that the Supplemental Security Income is different from Social Security because it’s not based on a worker’s earnings. However, if you think you’re eligible for this program, you still have to contact the Social Security Administration office.
