2. Alabama- House Bill 6
This was introduced to the house in January this year and its intention is to remove the requirement of a permit in order for a person to carry a gun concealed or in a car. And to remove the current part of the law that states “possession of a firearm by a person who commits a crime is prima facie evidence of the intent to commit the crime.”
In other words, it’s forbidden to carry a pistol in a vehicle without a permit. This bill would allow citizens to carry a pistol or any other firearm without a permit and would delete the presumption of intent to commit a crime of violence solely for not possessing a permit.
The bill will also revise the process by which a gun seized in connection with a violation of Section 13A-11-71 to 13A-11-73, Code of Alabama 1975, is disposed of or returned to its owner.
