1. Enter your information correctly
It may be pretty obvious for most of us, but, sadly, most people are being audited by the taxman because they don’t enter their information correctly. Even worse, they don’t double-check. When filing your tax return is really easy to forget about something or to misspell your name.
The most common errors made by tax filers on their tax returns are misspelled names and incorrect Social Security numbers. If Uncle Sam is nice, he will only reject your return, but if he is in a bad mood, maybe he will knock on your door to audit you. Please, don’t learn what ‘being audited’ means the hard way…
