6. Warren Buffett’s wasted opportunity

Hats off to Warren Buffett—one of the world’s most successful investors. The business magnete is currently worth $89.5 billion and it seems like everything he touches turns to gold. But even the ‘Oracle of Omaha’ gets it wrong on occasion.

Apparently, his biggest mistake was acquiring Berkshire Hathaway in 1964. Buffett purchased the failing textile company partly to get back at the CEO, who had upped the price of the firm’s stock, reneging on a deal the pair had struck. Buffet believes that if he’d bought an up-and-coming insurance business instead, his holding company would be worth twice as much as it is now.
