1. You have a new bank account
By now, you probably know that the IRS delivers stimulus checks via direct deposits into Americans’ bank accounts. So, if you have a new bank account and you didn’t inform Uncle Sam about it, maybe that’s why your check is delayed. The agency must have the following bank information:
- Your 2019 (or 2020) federal income tax return (Form 1040);
- The “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” tool that was used for the first round;
- The “Get My Payment” tool, only if the pieces of information were provided last year;
- A federal agency such as Railroad Retirement Board, the Social Security Administration, or Department of Veteran Affairs that issued benefits;
- Proof of recent payments to/from the government (federal records).

I am 76 years old and I depend on my SS Check every month. It is what I survive with when it arrives if it ever arrives. I don’t understand why it takes so long to arrive. Thank you if you send me a response.
Sincerely,
Iris B.
