Tenancy by the entirety, also known as TBE is a pretty cool arrangement, because, if one spouse gets sued, your most valuable asset, namely your house is safe from lawsuits. In other words, if your husband deals with a terrible lawsuit, you, as his wife, are not responsible for his mistakes, and of course, the other way around.
However, only 25 states have Tenancy by the Entirety, namely Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and Wyoming.
