… at least not on the phone or email. Usually, when creating an online account, you will receive a notification of the bank that lets you know of its rules. Some banks do not ask for personal data on the phone, others don’t make online contests or send you emails requesting data.
Overall, do not give personal data over the phone! This is especially viable for vital data such as Social Security and bank account numbers or passwords. If you notice anything suspicious, contact the bank immediately and sort things out (preferably face to face).
Furthermore, don’t send anyone e-mails containing your data – or make sure to delete them if you do.
