Manufacturing workers help companies produce a wide variety of goods, including foods and beverages, textiles, apparel, petroleum and chemicals, metals, electronics, furniture and more. Just over half — 51 percent — of companies offer a defined contribution plan, and seven percent offer a defined benefit plan.

The average employer contribution for manufacturing employees represents 4.5 percent of the employee’s total compensation.
