Construction workers perform the jobs required for new construction, additions and repairs for buildings, highways, utility systems and more. Ten percent of construction companies offer a defined benefit plan, and 30 percent offer a defined contribution plan.

Less than half — 43 percent — offer health insurance benefits. The average employer contribution for construction workers per hour represents 5.5 percent of the employee’s total compensation.
