8. Doing Interstate Commerce in Raw Milk
Do you live on a farm and don’t know what to do with the extra raw milk at your disposal? Depending on your state, you may be able to sell it. Other states don’t allow this.
But what happens if you distribute raw milk across state lines? One thing is for sure, you won’t get away with it! Since all milk sold across state lines must be pasteurized, you’ll be in violation of federal law, not unlike an Amish farmer who tried to sell his milk from Pennsylvania (where it is legal) in Washington D.C.
This happened after a 2011 U.S. Food and Drug Administration sting operation, which landed the farmer at the U.S. District Court.
9. Using Someone Else’s Disability Parking Permit
Using someone else’s disability parking permit to park your car in a space intended for people with disabilities is not only morally wrong but also against the law, at least in some states.
The permits are regulated and enforced by the states, meaning that their approaches vary in different areas in the U.S. Since this is considered a misdemeanor fraud in California, the charge carries a penalty of up to six months of jail time and a fine of $250 to $1,000.
But what’s more, some licensed professionals such as attorneys (they should know better!), physicians, nurses, and insurance brokers can face additional penalties.
