6. A Home Based Business
If you are self-employed and you have properly dedicated some space in your house for your work related activities you might be eligible for a deduction.
However, many people who work from home claim the home office deduction without completely understanding the rules. What most people aren’t familiar with is the fact that the place where you work from has to be entirely dedicated for that.
This means, you can’t have your kids running around, you can’t do chores or anything that is not related to your job. In addition, employees are not eligible for it, just business owners or freelancers.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be your house you can rent a place as well.
