Your family medical history is another factor that’s beyond your control (you can’t change your gene pool). So, if you have close relatives (parents, siblings, grandparents) who suffer from serious health issues, this translates to higher rates.
In general, carriers are actually interested in any conditions your parents or siblings have experienced, especially if they contributed to a premature death. Some carriers put more emphasis on your family medical history than others, but it’s likely to have some impact on your premium.
