2. Your Gender
Just like age, gender is another beyond-your-control factor. Placing itself on the same position as age, gender is equally important when referring to determinants of price. In fact, the vast majority of insurance companies use statistical models to actually approximate how long an individual who has a certain profile will be around.
For instance, did you know that on average, women tend to live approximately five years longer than men? As a result, women actually pay premiums for a longer period of time than men—that’s why they take advantage of lower rates. (We know… it’s not fair, but that’s the way it goes.)
