“The Lone Star” state is the second largest in the United States by area (after Alaska) and population (after California) and despite the weather being hot, the tax rates are rather cool.

There is no state income tax in Texas, but the state raises revenue in other ways.

Property owners faced a median of $3,216 in real estate taxes in 2018. There’s also a 6.25% sales tax applied to any purchases.
