10 Worst States for Military Retirees

American servicemen and women have seen many battlefields in our 244-year history, with many sadly losing their lives fighting to defend liberty, justice, and freedom. We should never forget the sacrifices they have made for this great country; however, some states in the home of the brave and the land of the free have forgotten this.

For example, many of the brave soldiers who fought in Vietnam, among other late 20th century conflicts, are spending their retirements living hand to mouth. Most are desperately trying to just get by on their military pensions. As if that weren’t enough, those pension payments are taxed too.

The federal government taxes retired veterans based on their age and overall length of service; so far, so good, but everything seems to be in a haze when it comes to state taxes.
