The McMartin Preschool trial was basically a daycare sexual abuse case from the 80s. Certain members of the McMartin family were charged with many acts of sexual abuse of children who were in their care.
The preschool was based in Manhattan Beach, California, and the first accusations were made back in 1983. The investigations took a while (from 194 to 1987), while the trials ran from 1987 to 1990. After almost seven years, the court ruled in the teachers’ favor, and all charges were eventually dropped.
Over the course of approximately seven years, $15 million were spent.
