Got your Pfizer vaccine recently? Well, good for you! But maybe you would have had a different opinion if the coronavirus pandemic hit the world back in 2009. Why? Because Federal prosecutors forced Pfizer to pay $2.3 billion in fines, calling the drug giant a corporate cheat when it comes to illegal drug promotions.
The criminal and civil penalties came after the company marketed the painkiller Bextra and a couple of other prescription drugs. The company was also caught inviting some doctors to consultant meetings to “convince” them that their drugs are safe by entertaining them with golf, massages, and other perks at resort locations.
