Connecticut

  • Annual marijuana use: 18.4 percent

Last year, the 89th Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, discussed with the governors of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey about making a plan for legalizing marijuana in the region. At the beginning of 2020, the Governor of Connecticut sponsored a bill in order to put an end to cannabis prohibition.

If we compare this state with its close neighbor Massachusetts which legalized recreational marijuana back in 2018, Connecticut would have seen more than $250 million when it comes to marijuana sales in just one year, if they followed  Massachusetts’ decision.

As we speak, the possession and use of recreational marijuana, as well as distribution, are illegal in Connecticut, but it seems that this can change anytime.
