If there’s any other way to solve the dispute between you and the other party, do it. For example, if there’s any chance you can talk to the company/person who wronged you in order to come to an agreement, opt for that.

Maybe you already tried that, and it didn’t work… Then, think about hiring a mediator. They are trained professionals who can really help you put your differences aside, settle and decide what’s best for both parties, all that without filing a lawsuit. Plus, everything can be solved more quickly. But again, it’s your call.
