Robert Craft was pretty passionate about raising awareness on drunk driving. By ‘pretty passionate,’ we mean he legally changed his name to Jack Ass in 1997.
In 2003, the crazy stunt MTV show Jackass had its premiere. Logically (or not), Craft couldn’t let the show creators use his name like that. The 44-year-old resident of Montana sued the company for $10 million citing plagiarism, defamation and copyright infringement.
The show’s creator Johnny Knoxville was no less than thrilled: “I can’t wait to get served the papers. What could be more American than just suing the living s*** out of someone for no reason at all?” The case was dismissed.

assuming that his lawyer got paid by the plantiff, Mr. Aitken, instead of taxpayers, it appears to be money well spent. arne. From this Mr. Austin would have gotten hours and hours of entertainment, physical activity, social contacts and probably even a job offer. If we taxpayers paid, then some form of re-imbursement needs to be devised. arne. ,
