4. Thurgood Marshall

Did you know that Thurgood Marshall was the first African-American Supreme Court Justice in our history? He served as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the US from 1967 until 1991, playing an essential role in promoting racial equality during the civil rights movement.

He gained his noteworthy reputation after successfully dealing with the case Brown vs. Board of Education. We could also say that Thurgood Marshall managed to impress some of the most influential US presidents, including President John F. Kennedy, who appointed Marshall to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

President Lyndon B. Johnson also appointed Marshall as the United States Solicitor General.
