10 Greatest Lawyers of All Time

8. Abraham Lincoln

It’s pretty inappropriate to call one of our former presidents, Abraham Lincoln, Honest Abe, but, truth is, during the time spent in the Illinois Supreme Court, that was his nickname; and we are not going to hide that. He appeared in front of the court 175 times out of which, 51 were served as a sole counsel (32 were in his favor and that’s pretty astonishing).

This example could easily sum up the type of lawyer he was, but we will offer more. Abraham Lincoln is most notably known for abolishing slavery, as well as preserving the Union, and even a 3rd grade kid knows this, but what you may not know about America’s 16th president is that he represented William Duff Armstrong, an American Union soldier.

It tells us even more the fact that he took the case pro bono. Unsurprisingly, Honest Abe was able to win the case.
