4. Subsidizing the Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents
In the past, each time you did business with a Quebec travel agency, you contributed to the Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents (FICAV). $1 ($0.77 USD) for every $1,000 (USD$769) spent on tourism services provided by the agency would go to the fund.
This fund reimburses customers if a travel agency or vendor, such as an air carrier, is unable to provide the purchased services. On January 1, 2019, this protection became free-of-charge.
