5. Improved traveler protection
The Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents is a financial protection plan administered by the Office de la protection du consommateur. This plan is complementary to the protection provided by travel insurance.
However, as of August 1, 2018, the FICAV covers a wider range of situations. For example, clients will be reimbursed, if they are unable to use the services due to an unforeseen event, such as a natural disaster or political crisis that prevents a vendor from providing services purchased from a travel agency.
