Georgia HB969 for 2022 establishes a penalty for those who fail to report a stolen gun to Georgia law enforcement. A second or subsequent violation of this particular code section will result in a fine of up to $500.00.

Dealers are exempt from this requirement.

Georgia HB971-2022 has also been introduced to the House on January 26th and intends to provide for the offenses of failure to store a firearm in a secure manner. This law authorizes an education campaign regarding firearm safety and the safe storage of firearms.

It will also be mandatory that the retailers provide a gun lock to the buyer for all firearms sales (this includes antique, replica, antique firearms, and relics).
