11 Things Police Officers Don’t Want You to Know

6. Can a law enforcement officer get my DNA from a DNA testing kit company?

Well, yes, so you must think twice before getting tested by a company like Ancestry or 23andMe. Or at least read the company’s policies because most of them will comply with any government requests such as certain pieces of information about their users and, of course, DNA samples.

For instance, back in 2018, DNA evidence from Ancestry was actually used to catch Joseph James DeAngelo, a.k.a. Golden State Killer. So, if it weren’t for Ancestry, maybe Californians were still terrorized and traumatized by this infamous man.

  1. This was very well done. Even with the ‘millions’ of pop-up ad, the info was speedy without long delays. This is how all the gigs should be! Good job. BTW, I did have time to check out some of the products.

  2. You specified the law in two states regarding a police officer’s right to demand identification. Is there a website where I can learn about the laws in the 48 remaining states regarding this issue?

    Thank you,
