Interviewers Will Be Breaking the Law If They Ask You These 12 Questions!

“What is your religion?”

Discrimination based on religious beliefs? That’s against the law. So, naturally, interviewers can’t ask you about your religion at all.

They could try to get around this by asking you if you can work on weekends, but this should only be asked if the job requires working weekends, anyway. Still, it would be difficult for them to deduce your beliefs based on just that as people from various backgrounds can have similar or dissimilar answers.

“Have you ever been an alcoholic or addicted to drugs?”

Similarly to asking you if you are disabled, interviewers can’t ask about alcohol and drug addictions. These questions fall under the same category. They can’t even ask if you’ve been to rehab for these addictions.

But they are allowed to ask you if you’re currently using any illegal drugs- there’s a subtle difference, you see. What’s more, they are also allowed to administer drug tests.
