Situation no. 2: You moved to a new home
Just like your bank account, the taxman doesn’t know if you’re staying in the same location or not. Indeed, most Americans welcomed their dollars from stimulus checks via direct deposit. But if something’s wrong with the information about your bank account on your federal tax return, Uncle Sam will mail you a check.
If everything went well when you received your first stimulus payment, but now you’re facing a delay, maybe it’s because you have moved to a new location. While the taxman knows where you are when you owe him money, he’s not that eager to find you when he has to give you money.
Joking aside, you’ll have to provide your new location to the agency if you want to receive the money.
