The Dixie State is known for having the third-highest federal tax on wine, at $1.9 per gallon. But Alabama is also known for one of the highest federal taxes imposed on liquor at $19.11 per gallon.
If you’re ever in the area you should look into the state’s oldest and largest brewery, the Good People Brewing Company, established in 2008 in Birmingham. But, don’t worry, you can also find their brews throughout the Southeast region. So, if you’re in Georgia, Tennessee, or Florida, you can still enjoy one of their beers.
