Alaska
Unsurprisingly, alcohol is pretty pricey in Alaska, among other things. Here, you’ll find the second-highest federal tax per gallon in the U.S., at $1.07. Though let’s be honest, if you want to really keep warm during long Alaskan winters, you probably won’t reach for a cold one.
You might prefer some wine or liquor, taxed at $2.50 ad $12.80 per gallon respectively.
Opened in Juneau in 1986, the Alaskan Brewing Company was the first brewery to open after the Prohibition, so you know they have the experience needed to deliver good, quality beer.
Before opening the shop, co-founder Marcy Larson was researching brewing when she came across a recipe from The Last Frontier’s Klondike Gold Rush era. Nowadays you too can enjoy a glass of the century-old beverage known as the Alaskan Amber.
