9. Inmates
Incarcerated people can also get the third stimulus check. There’s no legislation saying otherwise. In fact, there’s virtually nothing in the American Rescue Plan that restrains prisoners from getting their stimulus payments. If they are eligible to get a check, they will receive one.
The CARES Act doesn’t prevent them from getting their checks either. Initially, Uncle Sam deemed them ineligible for any payments, but the taxman lost in court. As long as they are eligible, everyone has the right to get a stimulus payment, no matter the unfortunate situation a given person may face at the time.
