Welcome to Oklahoma, the U.S. state that imposes a 4.5 percent levy and where groceries are taxed. On top of that, localities can add even 7 percent to the state’s sales tax, meaning that the average combined rate is 8.94 percent.

The highest income tax rate is 5 percent on more than $12,200 of taxable income for those who are married and file jointly and more than $7,200 for single filers. The lowest rate is 0.5 percent on up to $1,000 for single filers and on up to $2,000 for married joint filers.

In the Sooner State, the median property tax rate is $899 per $100,000 of assessed home value, and there’s no estate or inheritance tax.
